We are jumping into May with a wonderful kit by Paper Camellia. Since there is a Main Kit, Add on and a Pocket Page kit for May, I decided to go a little bold and make a 12x12 kit based on the Pocket Page Kit.
HERE is the kit that inspired me this month:
I also decided to do something a bit different (for me) and take a quick inventory of the kit and then not look at it again while I make my own kit. I made a list of the things that struck me in the kit, so I could free style it a bit. Crazy? I hope so!
My notes:
Colors: Blue, Orange, Pink, Green, Yellow, Black
Embellishments: Cork, wood, metal
Shapes: Stars, Globes, Cameras, Words
Theme: Travel/Adventure
Now comes the brave part. I got out the box. Don't YOU have a box? A box of special papers that you are hoarding and don't want to ever use? Yes. I got out that box. My special box is full of October Afternoon. You know that October Afternoon is hard to come by around here. My friend Pam has sent me some and I was able to snag one of their boxes this past Thanksgiving. I tried pulling other papers for my kit, but knew that the perfect papers were in that box.
See that Map paper right there on top? Sigh. I love that paper. Most of what I picked is October Afternoon with a bit of Crate Paper thrown in to round it out. I LOVE the colors and it came together pretty quickly with no patterns to try to match up.
So here is my complete kit I like to call Oh, the Places I'll Go.

Great to see you playing along Bethany. Love the title, love the kit :)
Love your kit, and love your thought process 'look, then don't look' lol.... and I'm going to get out my 'that box'!!!!
Thanks for making me so welcome this month. Can't wait to see what you make!
Really enjoyed traveling along through your kit creation process. Cute twist on making it. Reminds me of a party game where you look at a bunch of objects then write down as many as you can remember. This months kit(s) really turn my crank.
well,I may not have that box but I certainly have THOSE papers! Many, many of them. You really are pretty brave to have got them out to include in your kit and as for it being full of OA? I can totally relate. SO love their stuff. I have several of those map papers and as I am so in love with maps, have already used up a few of them! Great kit and lovely to have you in the hop.
Love how you decided upon doing your kit and you have lots of fantastic choices almost like you combine the 2 kits thanks for that great inspiration I may take away some of what you did and combine the kits like that :) The look and don't look will need to give that try next month looks like a fun way to come up with a kit :)
Oh well done Bethany for getting out "that" box ... will you be able to cut into those special papers though ... we shall see!
Have fun with your kit!
I'm a huge lover of OA, too!!! I just love love your kit! I am looking forward to seeing what you create with your kit! And yes I have that box, too! Papers so lovely you just can't cut into them, although I have been a little bit over the last two years!
Bethany you have chosen well. I often do my kit that way rather than match each paper separately.
THAT box??? This is such a fun approach to pulling together your kit! And OA + Crate = swoon for me, too. Very effective as well at capturing the feel of the inspiration.
woah … "the box" .. very brave indeed! I have one too :) Love your kit this month Bethany!
fabulous approach to building your kit. It's hard to break into rare, or hard to get hold of stash isn't it? Well done.
Your kit looks yummy.
great kit, love the OA and I spy some Echo Park in there too!
