DDDY Challenge #5

Well, it feels like I have not posted in FOREVER! I have a new nephew and got to spend some time with him. It is hard being far enough away (several hours), so I can't visit regularly. So let's "blame" my absence on my sweet little Ben. And you CAN'T be mad at him. LOL

First off, let's get to today's DDDY Challenge #5. I rolled the die and here is what we have:

A one page layout using blue and ribbon. Hmmmm....new nephew...blue layout...I'll have to think about that one. :)

Wanna see some yummy goodness? Jo-Ann has a new set of paper from Kay and Company...300 pretty versatile sheets of patterned paper with a nice mix for either boy or girl projects. I heard through the grape vine to look at for a sale on this coming up.

So much to share with you after my absence! I have still been on a card kick, so here are my latest creations. LOL I did manage one layout, too.

I was hoping to spend some time creating tonight, but my husband sprained his ankle and will not be going to his meeting so we shall see. He might need some babying. LOL

Don't forget to post a link to YOUR take on my DDDY challenge #5. Don't be shy.

Yeah! My first Mr. Linky!!!

Congrats, Kristina! You were the first person to use Mr. Linky (isn't there a less juvinille name for that thing?) to show me that you tried the challenge! I love your Christmas layout! First of all, your girls are stunning! The way you did your title over the circle is very eye catching and I really like your clean, linear approach to the page. Beautifully done!

Since I appreciate that you took the plunge first, I am going to send you a fun collection of some of my favorite chipboard shapes as well as some fun Grungeboard Shapes! I hope you like them and have fun playing with them!

Here is a picture of what you will be getting very soon in the mail!

Double Dog Dare You Challenge #4

I'm so happy that so many of you have been checking out my challenges and I have even had a few comments, but where are my players? LOL Mr. Linky is getting lonely if no one wants to share their projects with him. I know, it is hard to be first, but I promise it will be worth it! (hint...hint)

Here is the Roll the Die Challenge for today:

Go to your favorite gallery or blog and look around. Find something new or interesting or something that speaks to you and scraplift it. Pretty easy! Then post the link to your project here and let me know where you got your inspiration from.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!

The selfish part of me wishes I could do a getaway for NSD and just relax and create. The mommy and wife part of me thinks that may never happen and that is okay. We had a youth activity today (garage sale scavenger hunt...very fun!) and then did a bit of browsing ourselves. Then it was make lunch for the kids...load the dishwasher and hey! What's that? Go to my office to play? Are you serious, honey? Wow! LOL He is a good guy. So here I am, playing along with Robyn's NSD challenges this afternoon and getting some me time. If you want to play along, just go to http://thepinkstamper.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html . It is not too late to enter her give aways and her challenges are for the next 48 hours, so give it a try. I will do what I can and will post them here...as I finish them on this post.

Challenge #1 use brown and a pastel
inspiration: Mojo Monday #83
I needed a graduation card for our Pastor's wife who graduates on Mother's Day.

Challenge #2: Try Something New

Since I use pretty much everything I buy at some point (technique wise) I was stuck on this one until I remember that I am scared of Grungeboard. LOL Yep. It is true. I was excited to find it and brought it home and there it sits. Taunting me...you'll mess up...you'll ruin me.... So I thought I would give it a go. I used the cuttlebug on the heart and then inked it really well. The key is lightly inked with distressing ink and then I tried another new product that I have not used yet...Tatered Angels Glimmer Mist. Very pretty effect. Slight shimmer. Nice color. I like it. This card is for my hard working husband.

Challenge #3 : Kid's Scrapbook page or card

Okay, I have 2 kids, you know, so I couldn't make just one! Collin loves primary colors, so that is why I chose that style for his dinosaur card...and I call Isabel "monkey", so I couldn't resist this cute SCAL Sock Monkey cut that I found.

My response to Jen's challenge

Well, Jen...you challenged me to make a card based on the 365 Card Challenge #58...fish. That one required some thought, since I don't have all of the cute stamps that Jen keeps buying...and buying...and buying. LOL I have been planning on sending a card to a special needs adult in my church, so I thought this might be a fun challenge to do for her. Here is my card. In all of it's simple glory. :) And I did flock the fish and stickle the eyes and bubbles. And the color choice was based on goldfish crackers. LOLFor MY roll the die challenge, I decided to make a mother's day mini album. I picked a pale blue, cream, greens and chocolate brown as my color pallete and tried to keep it light and simple. I put pics. of each of the grandkids in it and left a spot at the end for my soon to be nephew.
So, is anyone else trying this or is it just me? LOL Come one now. Don't leave me out here all by myself. You know you want to try it! I'll try to show you some more challenges I am participating in later this week.

Double Dog Dare You Challenge #3

It has been an exhausting few days. I am on pins and needles waiting for the phone call to tell me that my sister is in labor with her first baby. I can't wait for my new nephew, but am afraid that I will not make it in time or at all. Distance and kids school scheduals as well as church might put a monkey wrench in my plans to be there for the birth. I am hopeful, though. I really want to be there for her.

New babies always make me nostalgic, so I was quickly able to finish the journaling on the One Little Word Challenge that I started last week. I had the page finished, but the words just would not come. The word to use was No and I immediately thought of my Grandmother and how I have no regrets about moving from Puerto Rico back to Indiana to be with her during her final days of cancer. It was a very scary and stressful move (no money...no place to stay...no job and a new baby/husband), but I am so glad I took that leap. My grandmother was able to spend her last days with her first Great Grandson and I was able to care for the woman who made such a difference in my life. During those difficult days when she was bed ridden and needed me to care for her most personal needs, she expressed such concern about being a burden. My greatest joy was holding her face in my hands and reassuring her that it was my pleasure to care for her. Okay, before I start to tear up, I will just post the layout. This is my grandmother. Warm sweater in the hotest of weather...big purse fill of kleenex and hard candy and hair arranged carefully over her ears (she hated her ears). I love this woman.

Here is the next challenge for this week from me. We will be making a Mini Album...inspired by a color combo...using stamping and focusing on blue. I see alot of people check my blog, but no one has posted their link yet. Why don't you be the first one? Come on...don't make me do this all by myself. You might be suprised at how easy it is. LOL

My other challenge for this week is from my friend Jen. Since she has NOTHING to do right now (yeah, right), we thought we would do some challenges together and post the results on our blogs (check out hers at http://www.myscrapcloset.blogspot.com/ ). She challenged me to make a card based on the Day 58 challenge from 365 cards ( http://365cards.blogspot.com/ ) Hmmm...fish? A card with fish? Let's see what I can do with that. LOL I will post it when I am done.

In the meantime...here is Mr. Linky. PLEASE post your challenge project...don't make me beg. LOL

My Roll the Die card complete!

In case you have forgotten in, oh, all of 3 days, here was the Roll the Die challenge for this week:

Card...no problem. Green...got it ( I put a nice blue/teal with it just for fun. I really like that combination). Ribbon...got it covered. Fashion. Hmmmm....fashion. Okay, I will admit it that this SAHM does not exactly follow the fashion trends. In fact, I would be a great candidate for What Not to Wear if anyone would like to nominate me. LOL I have liked some of the cool graphic T's that have been out for a little bit now, and think that if they were glittered they would be even better...so I translated that into the cutout flower that I stickled to within an inch of it's life. :)

As always, if you would like to play along, simply post your version of this project somewhere (your blog...a scrapbook forum or gallery) and paste the link below in Mr. Linky. I would love to see what you create!
